Interacting with FamilySearch™

 

Clicking the FamilySearch™ toolbar button will open a sheet with the same five actions.

Uncheck any ordinance types that you don’t wish to have highlighted, then click OK. A red circle will be drawn, and the name will be shown in red, for all individuals in the current tree that have LDS ordinances of the selected types with a status of Ready.

Selecting the Print action will create a printed report showing all individuals in the current tree that have LDS ordinances of the selected types with a status of Ready. You can see a preview of this report by selecting ‘Open PDF in Preview’ under the PDF dropdown box.

Note: LDS Ordinance information from FamilySearch™ is only available to LDS Church members.

There are four ways to begin an interaction with FamilySearch™:

  1. 1.Clicking the FamilySearch™ menu on the main menu bar.

  2. 2.Clicking the FamilySearch™ button on the toolbar.

  3. 3.Selecting an individual and choosing one of the FamilySearch™ options from the Actions menu.

  4. 4.Right clicking (or control+clicking) on an individual and choosing  one of the FamilySearch™ options on the context menu that appears.

Clicking on the FamilySearch menu on the main menu gives you five options:

You can select a person by clicking on their name in the main tree. The name will be shown in green to indicate it has been selected.  Then choose the one of the FamilySearch™ options from the Actions menu.

Selecting ‘Update this person’s LDS ordinances from FamilySearch™’ will download the current ordinance information for the selected person to your database.

Note: LDS Ordinance information from FamilySearch™ is only available to LDS Church members.

Alternately, you can right click, or control+click, on a person’s name and select an option from the context menu that appears.

Selecting ‘Match this person with FamilySearch™’ will let you match the person with an individual on FamilySearch™ and, if desired, download events and facts for the person to your database.

Selecting the ‘Highlight individuals with ‘Ready’ LDS Ordinances’ action will cause an ordinance selection sheet to be shown.

Note: LDS Ordinance information from FamilySearch™ is only available to LDS Church members.

Selecting the ‘Download a tree from FamilySearch™’ option lets you sign on to FamilySearch and download information. You can specify how many generations of ancestors and descendants you want to have downloaded.

Selecting the ‘Get updated ordinance information from  FamilySearch™’ option lets you get updated LDS ordinance information for everyone in your database that has a FamilySearch™ Person ID.

Selecting the ‘Download everyone’s Memories from FamilySearch™’ option lets you download photos, documents etc. for everyone in your database that has a FamilySearch™ Person ID. Note: LDS Ordinance information from FamilySearch™ is only available to LDS Church members.

In addition to the FamilySearch™ options described above, you can perform actions for a single individual. This can be done in two ways:

Selecting ‘Get selected person’s tree from FamilySearch™’ will start an information download beginning with that person. The information can be added to the selected person, in the current database, or saved in a new database.

Selecting ‘Download this person’s Memories from FamilySearch™’ lets you download photos, documents etc. for the selected person.
